Aims & Scope
Annales Botanici Fennici publishes original, previously unpublished papers on plant and fungal: systematics, evolution, phylogeography, taxonomy and nomenclature, population biology and genetics, physiology and molecular biology, terrestrial and aquatic ecology (including effects of climate change), ecology and reproduction of invasive species as well as their effects on native populations, phytogeography and paleoecology. We also encourage submissions of in-depth reviews on any of the above-mentioned research areas as well as articles on research methodology that present and/or discuss methods of data gathering and processing, or interpretation of the results through statistical testing. Both theoretical and empirical works are warmly welcome. Outside the scope are: new combination proposals or typifications without compelling reasons and taxonomic insight (i.e., without connections to more comprehensive systematic/taxonomic/nomenclatural studies), studies on cultivated plants, agriculture and related subjects (e.g. crop productivity, weed control), floristic notes (incl. new records) and numerical taxonomy, descriptive studies (e.g. floristic, anatomical, syntaxonomical, cytotaxonomical, ontogenetic), studies based on proxies (e.g., elevation, location) rather than on in-situ measured variables.
