Aims & Scope

TheBulletin of the Association of French Geographers(BAGF) is a quarterly journal that prioritizes in-depth thematic issues. The originality of the journal relies on the fact that each issue is based on a previously organized conference, which offers the authors an opportunity to get a first set of critical remarks on their papers. Hence, excluding varia articles, in order to be accepted for publication, papers must be, firstly, presented and discussed in public. The journal also defends, amongst its scientific and epistemologic purposes, the idea that young and confirmed researches confront their analyses. Thanks to its long-run history, the journal is a landmark that reflects the epistemological evolution of geography over the last hundred years. Starting as a simple non-profit organization’s « bulletin », the journal has become a mirror of the discipline, cherishing equilibrium between physical and environmental, human and cultural, political and regional geographies. Dedicating one of its four annual conferences to the high school teachers examination program (Geography and History certifications), the journal also includes a strong didactic dimension. Each year, the « new question » (part of the three questions included in the examination program) leads to the organization of a specific conference by a prominent specialist of the question, hence followed by the publication of an issue. The journal increasingly focusses on the public of high school teachers. The journal also regularly cooperates with the French National Committee of Geography (CNFG), and publishes papers based on joint conferences. The journal also publishes papers in English. Peer-reviewers are French and international experts. As reviewers, they are part of the editorial board, which as corollary changes according to the topic discussed in each issue. Papers are double blind peer-reviewed. Unless they prefer not to be mentionned, reviewers are listed in the last yearly issue, and on OpenEditio
