Aims & Scope
Kwartalnik Historii Kultury Materialnej is an interdisciplinary journal, integrating especially historians, art historians, archaeologists and ethnologists, interested in the history of civilization. Published materials concern the broadly understood material culture of Central Europe (primarily Poland and neighboring countries) from prehistory to the 20th century. The scope includes issues related to materiality in the field of: source studies, history of: settlement, rural economy, crafts and industry, construction and architecture, exchange and money, transport and communication, consumption, hygiene, medicine and health, cities, military art, methodology of material culture, research methods, monument protection, organization of science, museums and exhibitions, demography, anthropology, geographical environment. Articles are published in Polish and congress languages, varied in terms of topic and form, as well as review and report items. They are placed in several basic sections: 'Studies and Materials', 'Scientific Communications', 'Research Methods', 'Sources', 'Polemic and Discussions', and 'Reviews', 'Reports and Notes', as well as 'Scientific Chronicle'. KHKM is an important and recognized platform for intellectual exchange in the region.
