Lijecnicki Vjesnik
Croatian Medical Association · Croatia
Aims & Scope
Several years after its founding the Croatian Medical Association (CMA) began publishing its professional journal – Liječnički vjesnik. The first issue of Liječnički vjesnik came out in 1877, with the merit and praise of then president of the CMA – A. Schwarz, MD. Liječnički vjesnik is one of only around hundred journals worldwide that emerged in the late 19th century, maintained continuity throughout the 20th, and entered the 21st century. It is also the oldest medical journal in Croatia for the durability of publishing and regularly records all important achievements and professional events. In 1935 Foreign Contribution was added to Liječnički vjesnik, where articles and lectures of the CMA would be published in foreign languages, and in 1962, at the request of the American National Library, it was decided that Liječnički vjesnik would start in Croatian and English. At the beginning of the 1980s there was a short break in publishing, but in 1985 the publication was resumed. Topics that authors dealt with in their texts changed over time reflecting current interests and concerns of the medical profession in the country. By publishing scientific and professional work of local authors, Liječnički vjesnik improves healthcare. Equally important is making modern world medical science and knowledge universally accessible to our medical community. Editorials, professional and scientific papers, review articles, case reports, review of medications and methods, preliminary scientific and expert papers, reviews, letters to editor, book reviews, literature papers and other contributions are published in Liječnički vjesnik. Liječnički vjesnik also informs about the activities of the Croatian Medical Association and its professional societies and about the social problems that physicians encounter. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Liječnički vjesnikis an open access (OA) journal, which means free, unrest
