RIG publicerar artiklar, debattinlägg samt recensioner av etnologisk och kulturhistorisk litteratur med svensk anknytning. Varje häfte innehåller som regel två eller tre längre artiklar som redovisar nya forskningsresultat. Recensionerna består av avhandlingsrecensioner, recensioner och notiser. RIG har som målsättning att bland annat publicera samtliga fakultetsopponenters recension av etnologiska avhandlingar.
