Rivista Geografica Italiana
FrancoAngeli Edizioni · Italy · Est. 1894
Aims & Scope
The Rivista Geografica Italiana is the pre-eminent vehicle for geographical studies in the Italian linguistic and cultural area. In the context of a scientific debate that becomes ever more international in character, the desire and necessity of moving beyond the restricted circle of those who read Italian has led to English, French and Spanish being adopted as the other official languages of the Rivista. The journal’s international credentials, already well-established, have been strengthened by the publication of the article summaries in English and French. The Rivista Geografica Italiana is published quarterly (March, June, September and December). It consists of the following sections: Articles: scientific papers whose originality and quality have been assessed by Italian and/or foreign experts, with a maximum length of 50, 000 characters (spaces included). Notes: these are contributions that are subject to the same checks and standards as the Articles but dealing with more specialist subject areas, and are normally no more than 25,000 characters long Opinions and debates: these vary in length but are normally of a similar length to the Notes. They are not subject to peer review but simply to quality control on the part of the editorial board. They consist of opinions on various subjects, for which the authors are regarded as being primarily responsible Bibliographical Information: includes reviews of books published in Italy and abroad in the two years preceding the publication of each issue of the Rivista, which are regarded as being of interest to the geographical community Since 2013, the journal has been included in the Scopus database by Elsevier; it figures among the list of class A international journals in human geography according to the Italian agency for research evaluation (Anvur) and is the only Italian journal in human geography included in the list of scientific journals adopted by the Cnrs in France. In order to ensure that good scholarship is published, the Rivista Geografica Italiana, has substituted in 2007 its traditional process of scientific checking with the double blind peer review procedure. The aim of the Rivista is to provide a high quality forum for Italian and international scholars of geography and related disciplines who wish to bring their work before the scientific geographical community. Since 2021, the Rivista Geografica Italiana has been published by FrancoAngeli and is available in open access format.
