The main scope of Navigator are human activities in time related to the sea and, by affinity, to rivers and other navigable waterways. The object of History, which Navigator deals with, is the past of human activities related to the sea and, by affinity, to rivers and other navigable waterways. Therefore, part of the scope of the journal, within this object: The use and preparation of the military component of maritime power, which is naval power; Maritime and fluvial exploration voyages and travelers' accounts; Maritime and fluvial transport and waterway infrastructure; Navigation and nautical cartography; Colonization and invasions that depended on the sea and inland waters; Maritime traffic of people and migratory movements; Cultural and religious manifestations that have the sea as their main reference; Seafarers, port workers and riverside populations; The naval industry for construction and repair and its products; The arms industry of interest for naval preparation; Activities, organizations and means for the exploration and exploitation of the sea's resources; Underwater archaeology and archaeological research activities; Activities related to Brazilian oceanic islands; and Activities related to the sea and other navigable waterways, or related to them, analyzed in their past in light of the human sciences in general.
