Aims & Scope
The Journal of the History of Latin American Education – RHELA , with ISSN 0122-7238 and an online version with ISSN 2256-5248, is an open-access, peer-reviewed journal published biannually (January and July), dedicated to publishing original articles, literature reviews on the history of education with an emphasis on Latin America, and reflective articles in English, Spanish, and Portuguese in the field of education. It is also open to receiving comparative studies or research from other regions and continents on the history of education, in contexts with issues similar to those in Latin America. The journal’s main themes are: 1. Historiography, politics, legislation, reforms, and movements in universities in Latin America and the Caribbean. 2. History and future prospects of pedagogical thought, curriculum, technologies, educational innovation, and AI. 3. Teacher training (teacher training colleges, schools of education), leadership, and biographies of Latin American educators. Historical trajectories. 4. Rural education, ancestral knowledge of indigenous and Afro-descendant peoples, and interculturality. Historical and prospective contexts. 5. Pedagogies, peace, human rights, resilience, gender. Comparative historical-prospective studies. 6. Emerging technologies, academic networks, innovation, and new methodological frontiers in the history of education.
