About the Journal "PROBLEMS of Infectious and Parasitic Diseases" is a peer-reviewed open-access medical journal of scientific papers covering laboratory research data on human infectious diseases as well as its application for elucidation and management of epidemic processes. It is published by National Centre of Infectious and Parasitic Diseases in English, with periodicity of three issues annually, in a print and digital version. The journal received international acclaim and since 1997 has established itself as referenced edition in Exerpta Medica . Its aim is to extend and share results of intensive research on the etiopathogenesis, immune mechanisms, epidemiology, laboratory diagnostics, treatment and immunoprophylaxis of bacterial and viral (nosocomial included) infections, and parasitic infestations. The journal is intended to be of interest to scientists, practitioners and researchers in the field of infectology. NCIPD hosts all National Reference Laboratories (NRLs) for various bacterial, viral, and parasitic infections, accredited by the Bulgarian Accreditation Service (BAS) in 2003 under the European requirements of standard BS EN ISO 17025 for quality of work. Since 2007, NCIPD has been designated as a World Health Organization (WHO) Collaborating Center of the United Nations on epidemiological surveillance of communicable diseases and antibiotic resistance with the task of responding in these areas and training personnel for Southeast European and Asian countries former USSR.
