Aims & Scope

About the Journal Studia Praehistorica (ISSN 0204-9880 Print; ISSN 2815-2697 Online) is a double blind peer-reviewed open access journal published by the National Archaeological Institute with Museum of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (NAIM–BAS) . It was launched in the late 1970s by Georgi I. Georgiev and Nikolay Y. Merpert as a joint Bulgarian-Soviet journal of prehistory. The first volume 1–2 (1978) included the proceedings of the international symposium on the Varna Cemetery. From 2021, Studia Praehistorica has both print and online open access versions and has been issued regularly, one volume per year. It covers the time span from the Paleolithic to the Early Iron Age in the Balkans and neighboring areas, and also publishes book reviews and debates on topical concerns. It includes reports on excavation projects, archaeological and scientific analyses of finds, discussions on new radiocarbon evidence, critical reviews, and theorizing discourses, both in conventional approaches and refreshing insights. The journal also publishes book reviews and debates on topical concerns. Language All papers are published in English. Non-English native speakers use US English spelling throughout; UK spelling can be used only by British English native speakers. Submissions in German or French are accepted by exception only (e.g., theoretical discourses), and the authors should be native speakers of these lang
