Aims & Scope

Jurnal Psikologi aims to be a leading platform for disseminating and discussing pioneering research in the psychology of Indonesia. Building on our strong history of more than 40 years in understanding the psychological underpinnings of behavior, cognition, and emotion within the Indonesian context, we aspire to contribute to the global psychological discourse, highlighting the unique psychological landscape of Indonesia. The Journal welcomes a diverse array of scholarly articles, including original empirical research (both quantitative and qualitative), comparative studies, and comprehensive reviews that explore the breadth and depth of psychology concerning the Indonesian people. We are particularly interested in submissions that address the following areas: Mental health and wellbeing Contributions that discuss the problems and advancement of Indonesian people's mental health at the individual, group, and community levels (both preventive and curative action) with a comprehensive approach (micro and macro perspective) by integrating interdisciplinary knowledge and practices from psychology, public health, medicine. Culture and sociocultural dynamics Contributions that explore the interplay between cultural identity, the transmission of cultural values, and the psychological adaptations to cultural change, as well as how these factors influence the mental health and well-being across different demographic groups in Indonesia. Neuroscience and cognition Contributions that explore the neuroscientific basis of behaviour, cognition, and emotion within the Indonesian context. This includes neuroimaging studies, cognitive neuroscience research, and investigations into the neural correlates of psychological phenomena. Environmental influences Contributions that explore the impact of environmental changes and disruptions on reshaping the psychological landscape of Indonesia, focusing on factors such as forced and voluntary migration, climate change, disasters, modernization, energy use, and behaviors related to climate preservation. Technological and digital influences Contributions that explore the impact of technology, including digital media, on behaviour, cognition, and social interaction among Indonesians. Psychometrics in Indonesian Psychology Contributions that explore the development, adaptation, and validation of psychometric tools that are culturally appropriate for assessing psychological traits and constructs in the Indonesian context. While our primary focus is on human behaviour, we welcome interdisciplinary work that bridges psychology with other fields such as anthropology, sociology, environmental science, and digital humanities, provided these studies offer significant insights into the psychological aspects of Indonesian life.
