Aims & Scope
Folia Histochemica et Cytobiologica is an international, peer-reviewed, English-language Open Access journal published quarterly by the Polish Histochemical and Cytochemical Society. Founded in 1963 under the title Folia Histochemica et Cytochemica , the journal originally focused on the rapidly developing fields of histochemistry and cytochemistry. In 1984, its scope was broadened to include cell and tissue biology, and the journal adopted its current title, Folia Histochemica et Cytobiologica . Today, it is dedicated to the publication of high-quality research in histochemistry, cytochemistry, cell biology, and tissue biology, and provides a recognized forum for the dissemination of scientifically rigorous and internationally relevant scholarship. The journal is addressed to researchers, academic specialists, and professionals working in histochemistry, cytochemistry, and the biology of cells and tissues, as well as in related areas of biomedical and life sciences. Its interdisciplinary scope includes medical biology, biomedical engineering, biotechnology, pharmacology and pharmacy, medical sciences, health sciences, veterinary science, animal science and fisheries, and biological sciences. Folia Histochemica et Cytobiologica publishes original research articles, review articles, and other peer-reviewed scholarly contributions that support the advancement of knowledge in experimental, translational, and applied cell and tissue research. All articles are published exclusively in English, which supports international communication, broad discoverability, and scholarly visibility.
