《中华小儿外科杂志》1980年创刊，是报道中国小儿外科专业的高级学术期刊。本刊办刊宗旨为充分报道中国小儿外科学科领域基础及临床研究的先进理论、方法和成果，报道小儿外科专业的临床经验及技术，以促进中国小儿外科学科的发展。本刊读者主要为从事小儿外科临床、教学、科研工作者及外科、儿科、产科有关人员。本刊辟有述评、临床研究、实验研究、短篇报道、技术革新、经验介绍、文献综述、临床病例（理）讨论、国际学术交流、讲座、会议纪要、争鸣、病例报告等十多个栏目。我国小儿外科专业的核心文章80%以上均在本刊发表，故而本刊基本上反映了我国小儿外科领域的现状，代表我国小儿外科专业水平。
