Aims & Scope
Polymers in Medicine is an international, peer-reviewed journal dedicated to the research, development, and application of polymeric biomaterials and advanced functional polymer materials for healthcare, pharmaceutical, and biomedical engineering purposes. The journal publishes original research articles, reviews, and short communications covering synthetic and natural polymers, biopolymers, hydrogels, polymer composites, and surface-modified polymers designed for medical and pharmaceutical use. Particular emphasis is placed on biocompatibility, biofunctionality, biodegradability, sterilization, and stability, as well as structure–property relationships relevant to translational research and potential clinical applications. The scope includes (but is not limited to): biomaterials and polymeric implants (e.g., coatings, scaffolds, medical devices) tissue engineering and regenerative medicine (hydrogels, scaffolds, bioactive materials) drug delivery systems and controlled release technologies (nanocarriers, microcapsules, polymer therapeutics) pharmaceutical polymers and excipients, formulation and stability aspects biointerfaces and surface engineering (antibacterial/antifouling coatings, hemocompatibility) polymer-based diagnostics and biosensors medical and dental polymer materials in vitro/in vivo evaluation, translation-oriented biomedical polymer research The journal welcomes interdisciplinary contributions at the interface of materials science, biomedical engineering, and pharmaceutical sciences, supporting innovation in modern medicine. Out of scope: Manuscripts focusing exclusively on non-biomedical polymer engineering applications (e.g., packaging, construction, automotive materials) are outside the journal’s scope.
