Springer Nature · Netherlands
Aims & Scope
The Artificial Intelligence and Law journal seeks original papers that address the development of formal or computational models of legal knowledge, reasoning, and decision making. It seeks in-depth studies reporting on: (1) Innovative AI methods, tools, systems, datasets and applications for use in the legal domain for automating various aspects of legal practice, where the study focuses on the novel aspects of the technical implementation. (2) Substantial contributions of a technical, empirical, or formal nature on the legal, ethical and social implications of the use of AI in the legal domain It is to be noted that AI and Law is not a traditional Law journal. Papers submitted to this journal are expected to have substantial technical contributions in the form of either empirical results of the application of AI systems to legal data, or theoretical models of legal processes. Submissions based solely on legal doctrine or legal philosophy, without empirical or analytical results, will be considered out of scope of this journal. Survey papers will only be considered for review and publication if they additionally contain substantial contributions of a technical, empirical, or formal nature. In addition to original research contributions, this journal welcomes book reviews.
