Aims & Scope
Musicologica Austriaca – Journal for Austrian Music Studies(MusAu) is the official peer-reviewed journal of theAustrian Musicological Society (ÖGMW), the largest association of music scholars and corresponding institutions in Austria. Recognizing Austria's significant role in the history of Western music,MusAufocuses on Austrian music studies and on research related to this cultural region. It furthermore serves as an outlet for research conducted by scholars working in Austria, irrespective of topical and thematic orientation. Emphasis is placed on methodological cooperation between all musicological sub-disciplines as well as on the integration of related fields. Finally,MusAuaims in particular to encourage its authors to use the entire range of technical options available. As an internationally oriented open access journal,MusAuprovides all its content for free (under aCC-BY license). It has aneditorial boardconsisting of first-class scholars from around the world. To ensure consistently high-quality standards of scholarship, we are committed to theCOPE Code of Conductfor publication ethics and to theBOAI (Budapest Open Access Initiative)declaration.AlthoughMusAuis published and financed by the national association of music scholars in Austria (ÖGMW), it is open to authors (and readers) from around the world. Authors do not need to be a member of ÖGMW. Furthermore,MusAudoes not impose any charges for manuscript submission and for publishing. MusAupublishes up to 18 articles, topical special issues, and extensive book reviews per year on an ongoing basis. Stand-alone articles and proposals for special issues can be submitted at any time. Published annually in printed form between 1977 and 2013 (clickherefor an overview and the digitized issues),MusAumay be considered one of Austria’s leading musicological journals. Thanks to a generous grant from theAustrian Science Fund (FWF), the ÖGMW has been able to relaunch its yearbook in order to actively enhance its intern
