About the Journal Background The South African Dental Journal (SADJ) is the official mouthpiece of the South African Dental Association (SADA) , and was formerly known as Journal of the Dental Association of South Africa (ISSN 0011-8516) / Tydskrif van die Tandheelkundige Vereniging van Suid–Afrika . The journal was first published in 1945 when a group of academics recognised the need for a scientific publication by the South African Dental Association (SADA) . It has been published without any interruptions since then. Focus and Scope The purpose of the journal is to provide a platform for scientific peer-reviewed publications in dentistry and related fields. It disseminates news pertinent to the members of the South African Dental Association . It is designed to fulfil continuing professional development requirements of practitioners, and CPD tests can be done online. It caters for the interests of general dental practitioners, specialists, academics, oral hygienists and dental therapists. The South African Dental Journal (SADJ) publishes original research papers, clinical reviews, case reports, clinical communications, letters or notes. The journal primarily carries research articles which reflect oral and general health issues in Africa but also publishes papers covering the widest consideration of all health sciences. It further features current concepts and teaching in clinical dentistry, news in the field of dentistry, evidence based dental healthcare, original scientific research and developments in the oral and health environment. The S outh African Dental Journal (SADJ) is the only scientific Dept. of Higher Education and Training (DHET) accredited dental journal published in South Africa. Frequency The journal publishes monthly with 10 issues per year, from February to November. Language The journal's publication language for both articles and abstracts is English.
