Aims & Scope

Social Behavior and Personality: an international journal (SBP) was founded in 1973 with the goal of enabling researchers to publish their work in a fair, friendly, and supportive setting. Our mission has not changed. For nearly 50 years we have published innovative and relevant research that is robust and evidence based, without bias or discrimination against any group of authors and with a special intention to give voice to emerging researchers, who are not necessarily based in developed countries. Research stands on its own merits. We remain dedicated to publishing high-quality, readable articles that contribute to the well-being and progress of our society. SBP Journal publishes papers on all aspects of social, personality, and developmental psychology. We are interested in research that explores how these fields intersect with other areas of human activity, for example in education, healthcare, management, or government. We therefore accept papers that cover multiple fields, as long as links to social psychology predominate. We emphasize accessibility of knowledge and making up-to-date research available to lay readers. We welcome contributions from a range of individuals, from early-career to well-established researchers and are committed to providing reviews that will enable research work to be developed further. All papers submitted to SBP must be original, follow ethics recommendations, and make a novel addition to the literature. A case must be made for the work’s importance and relevance. Some studies may be quite narrow in scope and others more wide-reaching or significant. In both cases we encourage authors to develop the work in a way that can impact on practical, day-to-day living, including 1) empirical and experimental reports, with real-world applications, 2) theoretical commentaries or reviews, and 3) well elaborated meta-analyses prepared to a high critical standard. We do not accept book reviews and do not seek conference proceedings to publish as supplementary issues. We do however consider brief research notes or reports, if researchers are looking to report in a timely manner on either partially completed research or brief findings that can be presented in under 1,000 words. (This research should be submitted without subheadings or an Abstract, with a note to the Editor that it is a Research Note.)
