Aims & Scope

Studia ethnologica Croatica is an annual journal that publishes peer-reviewed articles contributing to the development of empirical, methodological, and theoretical knowledge in the field of ethnology and cultural anthropology. Articles from related disciplines, as well as interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary ones, with a focus on cultural phenomena and processes, are also welcome. The journal is primarily focused on the area of Central and Southeastern Europe, but with a broader outlook, bringing together scientists of various and different views, standpoints, and directions, those from these regions and those whose research focus is on these regions. The journal promotes studies based on ethnography, innovative approaches to theoretical concepts, and creative cultural criticism, while also focusing on local reflections of global processes, especially on cultural transformations and continuities in contemporary societies. The journal occasionally publishes thematic sections specifically dedicated to certain current issues or perspectives in various subfields of ethnology and cultural anthropology. The journal also publishes book reviews. The journal is intended for readers of various disciplines dealing with cultural dynamics, phenomena, and processes, as well as for those involved in the creation of cultural policies.
