Časopis SLOVENSKÁ ARCHEOLÓGIA uverejňuje pôvodné vedecké práce o najzávažnejších archeologických nálezoch a problémoch bádania o praveku, včasnej dobe dejinnej, stredoveku a novoveku na Slovensku a v strednej Európe. Náplňou výrazne presahuje do príbuzných aj prírodovedných disciplín. Hodnotí najdôležitejšie odborné podujatia, prináša dôležité personálie a recenzuje vedecké diela zaoberajúce sa stredoeurópskym priestorom.
