Aims & Scope
ESCENA. Revista de las artes is a semiannual journal with continuous publication, of an international nature, edited at the Institute of Research in Art (IIArte) of the Faculty of Arts of the University of Costa Rica. Its fundamental purpose is to publish and disseminate the results of academic research in the field of arts in general, as well as unpublished related documents, with the aim of generating and promoting knowledge in this specific area. It is aimed at researchers, professors, artists, art lovers, and the general public. The journal also publishes personal testimonies from creators, artistic productions such as visual artworks, scores, literary texts, among others. It is important to clarify that literary research is published, in case it has a comparative focus with other arts. This is because our institution has other academic publications focused exclusively on the area of Literature: Revista de Filología y Lingüística de la Universidad de Costa Rica and Káñina, Revista de Artes y Letras. Likewise, ESCENA is an open access journal, which means that all content is available free of charge to the user or their institution. These may read, download, copy, distribute, print, search or link to the full texts of the articles, or use them for any other lawful purpose, without asking prior permission from the publisher or the author. All of the above is carried out in accordance with the BOAI definition of open access.
