Aims & Scope

Genome Research is an international, continuously published, peer-reviewed journal that features outstanding original research providing novel insights into the genome biology of all organisms, including significant advances in genomic medicine. The journal also provides high-quality reviews and perspectives written by respected leaders in the field and reports cutting-edge computational biology and high-throughput methodologies. Launched in 1995, Genome Research is an international, continuously published, peer-reviewed journal that publishes studies on the structure, function, biology, and evolution of genomes of all organisms, with a long-standing emphasis on genome-scale analyses, chromatin structure and function, epigenomics, systems genetics, and proteomics. We also feature gene discoveries that provide novel insights and reports of high-throughput experimental and computational approaches. In addition to these core areas, the journal is now particularly interested in the following areas: comprehensive characterization of genome sequence variation understanding the basis of phenotypic complexity network biology and the functional effects of genetic variation evolutionary mechanisms of species origin, adaptation, and genomic diversity, including the study of ancient DNA genomic medicine, including mechanisms of penetrance, expressivity, and modifier effects understanding genomic and biological processes through single-cell analyses novel computational algorithms that provide insight into biological processes genome editing and engineering definitive genome and pangenome resources that demonstrate advances in and aspects of genetics and genome biology Genome Research is cross-disciplinary, publishing studies that reflect aspects of the above areas in disease and medicine, neuroscience, microbiology, and human, animal, and plant biology. New data in these areas are published as research papers, methods, resources, reviews, and commentaries.

Frequently asked questions about Genome Research

Is Genome Research a predatory journal?

PubScope has no integrity flags on record for Genome Research: it is indexed in Web of Science, Scopus, and is not on DOAJ's withdrawn list. Indexing is a transparency signal, not a guarantee — always confirm fit and policies before submitting.

What is the impact factor of Genome Research?

Genome Research is indexed in the Web of Science Core Collection, so Clarivate publishes an official Journal Impact Factor for it (since the 2023 Journal Citation Reports, every Core Collection journal — including Arts & Humanities and Emerging Sources titles — receives one). PubScope links to Clarivate's official source rather than reprinting the number, which can be out of date. Its open 2-year mean citedness is 7.19.

Is Genome Research indexed in Scopus and Web of Science?
