Aims & Scope
The sole social science journal focused on interdisciplinary research on social demographic aspects of environmental issues. The journal publishes cutting-edge research that contributes new insights into the complex, reciprocal links between human populations and the built and natural environments across the world. Submissions of a quantitative, qualitative, and mixed methods research are welcome. Disciplines commonly represented in the journal include: demography, sociology, public health, geography, environmental economics, and anthropology. The journal publishes original research, research briefs, and review articles. Examples of relevant topics include but are not limited to: - Demographic and health impacts of climate change - Environmental concern and fertility - Health and mortality effects of environmental and pollutant exposures - Fertility and land availability, tenure systems - Migration and natural resource decline - Health, well-being and environmental implications of development - Social stratification and natural hazards - Environmental amenities and quality of life - Population redistribution and land use change - Population change and energy consumption - Urbanization’s impact on environment and human health - Gender and socioeconomic disparities in environmental impacts - Innovations in data, measurement, and methods for population-environment research In addition, Population and Environment welcomes proposals for special collections focused on innovative topics in the field.
