Aims & Scope

In 2000, the Natural Sciences Museum of Barcelona decided to change the title of its former journal,Miscel·lània Zoològica(published since 1958) toAnimal Biodiversity and Conservation(ABC) and to modernize its structure. In doing so, the new ABC aimed to fill knowledge gaps in Spanish zoological research while providing zoologists worldwide with a high-standard, peer-reviewed platform based on a highly ethical publishing strategy (Diamond Open Access) and a forum to publish their papers. The scope of the journal is broad, encompassing descriptions of new species as well as studies on systematics, morphology, biogeography, ecology, ethology, physiology, and genetics that emphasize some aspect of conservation biology. The journal publishes original research papers, reviews, and discussions of issues within these fields. For catalogues, lists of species, short notes, and other smaller contributions, we invite colleagues to submit their work to our sister journal,Arxius de Miscel·lània Zoològica.
