The main objective of RPER is to disseminate research produced within the interdisciplinary area of regional, local and urban studies. RPER is directed at academics and other professionals for whom issues of space and territory are relevant: economists, urban planners, sociologists, geographers, engineers, etc. The geographical reference in the journal's name only means that it is an initiative of Portuguese academics, acting within the scope of the Portuguese Association for Regional Development (APDR). There is no bias in terms of specific themes and issues to be addressed. RPER publishes original scientific work in Regional Science, Regional Economics, Economic Geography and related areas.
