Biotecnia publica aportaciones científicas nacionales e internacionales en español e inglés, en el entendido de que todo manuscrito sometido debe ser original e inédito. El contenido científico y calidad de los artículos recibidos son evaluados en la modalidad de doble ciego por al menos dos árbitros especializados en la materia, los cuales pueden ser del banco de árbitros de la propia revista, o bien, externos. El proceso de arbitraje se realiza bajo estricto anonimato. Los artículos o contribuciones son productos de investigaciones originales o revisiones bibliográficas, en las áreas de Ciencias Agropecuarias, Química, Bioquímica y Ciencias Asociadas, Biomédicas, Nutrición, Cultura Física y Deportes, Toxicología, Ciencia y Tecnología de Alimentos, Biología, Recursos Naturales Terrestres, Acuáticos y Conservación de Recursos Naturales. Biotecnia NO publica reportes técnicos, críticas u opiniones, biografías, etc.
