Aims & Scope

Kõigi mainitud alade teadlik arendamine on eesti keele hea käekäigu seisukohast ülioluline, mistõttu on tähtis julgustada autoreid nimetatud valdkondadega tegelema ja uurimistulemusi publitseerima. Estonian Papers in Applied Linguistics, the official annual journal of the Estonian Association for Applied Linguistics, publishes articles that are expected to cover different fields of applied linguistics, with preference given to articles of theoretical interest. It is a peer-reviewed journal, maintaining an international focus, while at the same time encouraging articles on Estonian language, as well as Baltic and Nordic languages. It welcomes research articles, carried out in any theoretical framework, which show explicitly how local issues of language use, learning, teaching, computational linguistics, translation, or lexicographical matters exemplify more global concerns. The journal is a unique regular publication focusing on applied linguistic issues in Estonia, as well as in the whole Baltic region, and Nordic countries. Its main goals are to encourage research that allows these languages to play a significant role in shaping current theoretical research. The articles of the Estonian Papers in Applied Linguistics deal mainly with the Finno-Ugric and Baltic languages. The distinguished nature of these languages as well as the recent changes in the socio-linguistic situation often require new solutions in place of the traditions of applied linguistics developed on the basis of Indo-European languages.
