Aims & Scope
The Journal de la Société des Océanistes (JSO) is the only French-language scientific journal dedicated to Oceanian societies and cultures. Multidisciplinary since its inception, the journal aims to publish works in the field of humanities and social sciences (anthropology, archaeology, museum studies, history, history of science, linguistics, political science), as well as environmental sciences and literature. Contributions reflect both the cultural, historical, and political diversity of Oceania, and the central role played by this region in the development of key concepts in the social sciences and humanities and in creative responses to major contemporary challenges. The Journal de la Société des Océanistes offers various sections in its print and online versions, allowing for a variety of writing and publication formats. The journal's identity and editorial policy are characterized by openness to dialogue and multiplicity of voices. The Journal de la Société des Océanistes is aimed at all researchers and students working in the Oceanian area, and more generally at all audiences wishing to be informed about this part of the world.
