Socialni Studia/Social Studies
Masaryk University · Czech Republic · Est. 2004
Aims & Scope
Sociální studia / Social Studies are peer-reviewed academic journal published semi-annually by Masaryk University. Its focus is primarily sociological, but we also accept sociologically informed and sociologically relevant contributions from other social science and humanities disciplines (anthropology, ethnology, history, philosophy, political science). The journal welcomes studies that offer new ways to understand social issues, or original critical commentary on ongoing debates in sociology and social sciences. The journal is open to contributions that reflect emerging and provocative questions of a substantive, conceptual, theoretical or methodological nature. At the same time, it supports texts that focus on the area of Central Europe or help to mediate between events in this region and international professional debates. The journal's genre scope is broad – it includes original theoretical and theoretically grounded empirical research articles, as well as review essays, reviews, short notes, discussion comments, or conference reports. Occasionally, we also publish thematic issues (or blocks) dedicated to specific topics and edited by guest researchers.
