Aims & Scope
Advances in Atmospheric Sciences ( AAS ) is dedicated to publishing original, cutting-edge research in atmospheric dynamics, physics, and chemistry, and in coupled Earth-system processes involving the atmosphere. The journal aims to advance atmospheric science, serve the global scientific community in atmospheric science and related fields, and support the achievement of sustainable development goals. The journal prioritizes studies that offer fundamental scientific insight; develop or utilize innovative research methods; combine theory, observations, and modeling; advance weather, climate, and Earth system prediction; or reveal generalized principles. AAS publishes interdisciplinary research at the intersection of atmospheric science and other natural and social sciences, and encourages submissions on major national or international research programs and collaborative projects. Submissions that document advanced modeling systems or new datasets are also welcome. AAS publishes original full-length research articles and shorter research letters, comments and replies on articles published in AAS, data papers, news & views (research highlights/ project progresses/ meeting summaries), review papers, and perspectives/outlooks. AAS covers topics including, but not limited to: Innovative applications of new knowledge and theories from mathematics, physics, chemistry, and other disciplines to theoretical and experimental studies of Earth and planetary atmospheres. Theoretical, modeling and observational studies, and the forecasting/prediction of weather, climate, and physical-chemical processes across all spatiotemporal scales within the Earth system. Climate system dynamics, climate change and its attribution, impacts, and adaptation. In-situ and remote-sensing observation of atmospheric, oceanic, land-surface, and space weather systems, and related analyses and applications. Atmospheric chemistry, atmospheric aerosols, boundary-layer processes, clouds, radiation, precipitation, atmospheric electricity, and other related physical and chemical processes. Earth-system dynamics, with emphasis on interactions among the atmosphere and other components. Research and applications in atmospheric and related sciences utilizing data science, artificial intelligence, and advanced statistical methods. AAS distinguishes itself by selectively publishing original, innovative research and contributions in a variety of formats that emphasize fundamental, cutting-edge, and interdisciplinary research. We also provide tailored author services that aim to maximize the international visibility and impact of the contributions.
