Transcript · Germany · Est. 2009
Aims & Scope
The journal focuses on media studies, examining interfaces and platforms as central conditions of the digital present. It investigates how these structures shape relationships between humans, machines, data, and infrastructures, and influence the implementation of digital platforms. The journal also addresses issues of governance, API economies, and data labor in the context of advancing platformization. Additionally, it features a blog called "Videography" dedicated to the video essay and the challenge of combining scientific research with artistic expression, and another blog "GAAAP_" covering media, art, and cultural studies with a focus on gender, anti-racism, anti-antisemitism, anti-ableism, anti-capitalism, and post-coloniality. Debates cover topics like academic freedom, working conditions for early-career researchers, media practice and teaching, media studies and education, and methods in media studies.
