Aims & Scope

Crítica. Revista Hispanoamericana de Filosofía is a quarterly journal published by the Institute for Philosophical Research at UNAM, Mexico. It features articles, discussion notes, book symposia, article symposia, survey articles, special issues, and reviews in all areas of philosophy, provided they fall within the analytic tradition broadly understood. Crítica values conceptual clarity, argumentative rigor, and originality. Its primary readership consists of academic philosophers and philosophy students, so authors are expected to clearly articulate how their work contributes to advancing ongoing philosophical debates. Crítica welcomes submissions across all areas of contemporary philosophy, including aesthetics, epistemology, ethics, general philosophy of science, metaethics, metaphilosophy, metaphysics, moral philosophy, philosophy of action, philosophy of language, philosophy of logic, philosophy of mind, philosophy of the special sciences, political philosophy, and social philosophy. The journal also publishes work in the history of philosophy, as long as it engages with philosophical problems and arguments rather than focusing solely on exegetical or contextual issues related to historical figures or periods. In addition, Crítica considers articles that draw on empirical evidence to address philosophically significant questions. The journal publishes contributions in both English and Spanish. All accepted articles appear as open access, in accordance with the principles of the Budapest Open Access Initiative , which permits users to download, read, distribute, and print published content, provided appropriate credit is given to the authors and editors. Crítica does not charge fees for submission, processing, publication, or access. Founded in 1967 by Alejandro Rossi, Fernando Salmerón, and Luis Villoro, Crítica was the first journal in Latin America devoted to analytic philosophy. For decades, it has maintained its status as a leading philosophical publication in the region and is widely respected in the international academic community, particularly in the English-speaking world.
