Przeklady Literatur Slowianskich
Wydawnictwo Uniwersytetu Slaskiego · Poland · Est. 2009
Aims & Scope
Przekłady Literatur Słowiańskich (PLS) is a journal dedicated to the study of translation in Slavic literatures. It publishes articles by translation scholars, literary scholars, and comparatists interested in the issues of modernist literary translation within Slavic cultures. The historical comparative material includes poetic, prose, dramatic, and philosophical translations from Polish, Russian, Ukrainian, Czech, Croatian, Serbian, Slovenian, and Lithuanian modernisms. The journal explores translation as a mode of creative activity, a manifestation of modernist artistic sensitivity and cultural self-awareness, an integral part of the modernist program for literary renewal, a stimulus for the evolution of 'minor' national literatures, and a tool for transmitting the imperative of inventiveness and modern anthropological and social ideas. The journal is addressed to theorists, historians, critics, and practitioners of artistic translation.
