Aims & Scope

Addiction Science & Clinical Practice provides a forum for clinically relevant research and perspectives focused on the treatment and quality of care for people with unhealthy substance use and addictive behaviors. Topics of interest include the array of clinical prevention and treatment practices (from health messages, to identification and early intervention, to more extensive interventions including counseling, pharmacotherapy, and other management strategies); and the identification and management of medical, psychiatric, social, and other health consequences of substance use. Addiction Science & Clinical Practice is particularly interested in articles that address how to improve the quality of care and health services for people with unhealthy substance use and related conditions. Although the journal welcomes submissions that address these conditions in addiction specialty treatment settings, the journal is particularly interested in articles that expand the base of treatment to address unhealthy substance use outside these settings. Such articles may include experiences with novel models of care and outcomes, outcomes of research-practice collaborations, implementation science, community-based participatory research, and other innovative studies focused on increasing access to treatment and services for unhealthy substance use. The journal also actively welcomes the submission of studies reporting null or negative findings given their importance to reproducibility and the development of evidence-based treatment interventions . Addiction Science & Clinical Practice is generally not an outlet for basic science research. Addiction Science & Clinical Practice is intended for an international audience of clinicians and other persons who care for people with unhealthy substance use in general, specialty, and community-based settings. It also seeks to inform public health professionals and researchers who are engaged in developing, assessing, and improving substance
