Aims & Scope

The Journal publishes papers on problems of ecclesiastical history from the beginnings to the contemporary period. We also accept research texts dedicated to the social, political and cultural topics which are important for understanding the historical being of the Church. The Journal publishes materials on the history of Early and Byzantine Christianity, local Orthodox Churches and Western confessions. The Journal also publishes papers dedicated to the history of Russia and World history in their connection with the life of the Church and religious institutions. Particular attention is paid to the development of ecclesiastical organisation, church-state, church-social and interconfessional relations, the role of Christianity in the formation of various ethnic, social and political identities and in the development of culture, the processes of secularisation of society and their consequences for the life of the Church, historiography of ecclesiastical history, as well as biographies of certain church actors (including theologians).
