Aims & Scope

The Mdooter Journal of Communication and Digital Technologies is a scholarly, peer-reviewed journal dedicated to publishing high-quality, impactful research at the intersection of communication studies and digital technologies. Our core mission is to serve as the premier platform for studies that contribute to the understanding and development of these fields within Nigeria. Geographical Focus and Author Criteria (Strict Policy) The geographical scope of the Mdooter Journal of Communication and Digital Technologies is strictly Nigeria. To foster indigenous research, contribute directly to local scholarship and policy, and ensure strict compliance with indexing criteria (such as those for Scopus and Web of Science), we require all authors to demonstrate a direct link to the Nigerian academic community. Therefore, only submissions where all authors, regardless of their position (first author, corresponding author, or co-author), hold a verifiable primary affiliation with a Nigerian institution at the time of submission will be considered for publication. Content Scope Mdooter is interested in both theoretical and empirical manuscripts that address challenges, opportunities, and trends in the following twin areas: Communication Studies We welcome research across the entire spectrum of communication, with a focus on how media shapes and is shaped by Nigerian society, culture, and politics. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to: Media Studies: Traditional, new, and emerging media, media ownership, and media policy. Journalism: Digital journalism, investigative reporting, media ethics, and the role of the press in democracy. Strategic Communication: Advertising, marketing communication, public relations, and corporate communication strategies. Representational Communication: Studies on identity, culture, gender, and social issues as reflected in media content. Media Effects: The psychological, social, and behavioural impact of media consumption on Nigerian audiences. Interpersonal and Organisational Communication: Research relevant to local contexts and institutions. Digital Technologies The journal is committed to publishing studies on the adoption, impact, and infrastructure of digital technologies in Nigeria. We encourage manuscripts that bridge technical development with social, economic, or communication outcomes. Topics include: Emerging Digital Platforms: Research on social media, mobile technologies, and local digital ecosystems. Advanced Computing: Applications and implications of Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), Cloud Computing, and Big Data in Nigerian sectors. Distributed Systems: Studies on Blockchain technology, the Internet of Things (IoT), and their governance. Immersive Technologies: The use, impact, and ethics of Virtual and Augmented Reality (VR/AR) in communication and education. Overall Aim Our overarching goal is to publish original studies that are immediately useful and actionable for scholars, students, policymakers, industry leaders, and practitioners working in the twin areas of communication and digital technologies across Nigeria.
