Aims & Scope

Revista Mexicana de Medicina Familiar (RMMF) is the official journal of the Federación Mexicana de Especialistas y Residentes en Medicina Familiar (FedMexMF), which is the family medicine organization that integrates the Medical Societies in this field. RMMF aims to be an encouraging scientific publication model which disseminates, through quality, originality and applicability writings, current knowledge and family medicine development in the fields of health care, research, management and medical education. Therefore, guiding and stablishing criteria among professionals responsible for solving health problems of people, families and the community. RMMF is a peer reviewed journal that publishes quarterly in spanish or english in open access. RMMF is addressed to teachers, students of medicine, nursing, nutrition, social work, psychology, and stomatology (at a technical level, undergraduate or postgraduate), doctors or related professionals and to managers responsible for the public or private health system. To achieve the above, the journal has among its specific objectives to acknowledge and recognize the historical experiences or visions in this field of knowledge; the most relevant achievements and research results in the clinical ambit, in epidemiology, health systems, behavioral and social, administrative and educational sciences, as well as innovative contributions, doubts and controversies. Disseminating the trials of different, and even parallel currents of thought that, based on evidence sustained on scientific rigor, generate critical criteria applicable in the daily practice of first-level care medicine. Disseminate and promote family studies, pharmacological and non-pharmacological therapeutic updates. The dissemination of trends in the organization and management of health systems is also a strategic intention, particularly those concerning primary care medicine. Other specific objectives of RMMF are to disseminate and promote research that provides current information to solve problems related to ethical dilemmas that arise in professional practice; as well as, that normativity, laws and regulations that condition or determine the professional performance of the family doctor and/or the health team. A specific objective of RMMF is to contribute with the published content to promote affiliation among peers, identity with a professional practice that has its own body of knowledge, which is manifested in the clinic, epidemiology, sociology, psychology, administration and which demands of the family doctor a polycompetent theoretical and practical training. The purpose is to provide a forum for the family doctor, organized and governed only by their peers and with their peers, so that in a climate of respect, freely and independently, mediated only by the values of their discipline, the scientific method and ethical values, they find and contribute with scientific writings to broaden the knowledge and recognition of users and service providers, about the responsibility that this primary contact professional assumes daily, along with the health team, in their role as authentic manager of the health care that families under their care require.
