Aims & Scope
The Journal of International Students (JIS) is a peer-reviewed scholarly journal focused on international and global education. JIS operates with full editorial independence. All editorial decisions are made solely by the Editor-in-Chief and the editorial board based on scholarly merit, peer review, and academic standards. The publisher does not influence the acceptance or rejection of manuscripts. The journal follows a rolling publication model, publishing multiple issues annually as articles become ready for publication. Each issue includes a minimum of 10 rigorously peer-reviewed articles. All submissions undergo a double-blind peer review process. JIS is a multilingual and multidisciplinary publication that engages with critical debates in international and global education. We welcome submissions from researchers, educators, and policymakers worldwide across fields including international and comparative education, higher education, public policy, economics, global studies, sociology, linguistics, cross-cultural psychology, counseling, social work, and related disciplines. JIS prioritizes scholarship that advances knowledge in under-researched contexts, particularly in regions, countries, and populations that remain underrepresented in global research. The journal encourages work that centers diverse perspectives, including those of women, people of color, and communities from the Global South. We also value interdisciplinary and collaborative scholarship that bridges geographic, cultural, and methodological boundaries. Key areas of interest include, but are not limited to: Artificial intelligence and technology in international education Global competence and intercultural communication Cross-cultural mental health and student well-being Decolonization, indigenization, and belonging in education Employability, mobility, and global career pathways Ethical internationalization and inclusive practices Immigration policy, student support, and human rights Language, identity, and cross-cultural experiences Global student, academic, and scientific mobility STEM education and culturally responsive pedagogy Sustainability, climate change, and global education Racial equity, justice, and systemic reform Transnational identities and global communities Virtual mobility, exchange, and online learning Technology-enabled language learning and immersion Digital environments, social media, and cybersecurity
