Aims & Scope
sub\urban is a German-language and interdisciplinary journal that creates a space for debate in critical urban studies. sub\urban pursues two goals: to promote exchange between different disciplinary approaches to urban research and to stimulate reflection on what can be considered critical urban studies in this context. The discussion with urban movements is just as important to us in the journal as the reflection on the framework conditions of knowledge production in the city and in teaching and research. Although the journal is German-language, it is explicitly open to international debates and to the translation of foreign-language texts. The journal understands itself as a scientific, inter- and transdisciplinary publication project and is also open to non-academic authors. sub\urban is German-language but internationally oriented. This means that the journal aims to create a space for international case studies, authors, and texts. In principle, texts should be submitted in German. Upon request, submissions can also be made in other languages if the text cannot be written in German by the authors. In such a case, translation costs would be incurred after a positive review process, which are usually borne by the authors themselves. If the text is published in two languages, the editing costs for the non-German text must be borne by the authors themselves. In principle, it is also conceivable that German-language submissions will also appear in translation. This is only possible within the same issue; authors bear the costs for translation and editing in this case themselves.
