Aims & Scope

The website "Finno-Ugric World. Educational and Intercultural Programs" was launched in February 2008 in full-functional mode. On November 21, 2008, at an off-site meeting of the International Association of Finno-Ugric Universities in Izhevsk, the first presentation of the site to the general public took place. After the presentation at the meeting of the International Association of Finno-Ugric Universities, a decision was made to provide universities - members of the Association with the opportunity to post their information materials on the "Finno-Ugric World" site. The content of the site meets the requirements of completeness and scientific reliability, is aimed at various groups of users interested in Finno-Ugric topics, and is politically and ideologically neutral. The concept of creating the site The concept of the "Finno-Ugric World" website is the formation of a multilingual environment to satisfy the universal information needs of users on Finno-Ugric peoples and regions of compact residence of Finno-Ugric peoples, their history, culture and languages. Conceptual are: the list of supported languages and its openness; the information structure of the site and its expandability; sources of information filling the site and the principle of their selection; technical base of implementation; methods of support and information updating of the site. The site provides reference information about the Finno-Ugric peoples of Russia, news, cultural life, the development of intercultural communications in the Finno-Ugric space, the development of national-regional education in the context of modern ethno-cultural space, electronic information resources in Finno-Ugric languages, annotated links to the most significant network resources dedicated to the Finno-Ugric territories of Russia, information about educational and scientific research centers of the Finno-Ugric regions, about publications and publications of scientists and specialists in Finno-Ugric studies.
