Aims & Scope

Pleura and Peritoneum proudly celebrates its 10-year anniversary,being proud of a decade of impactful contributions to the field of pleural and peritoneal science. We extend our sincere gratitude to all authors, readers, and the committed scientific community whose contributions have been essential to the journal’s growth and success. ObjectivePleura and Peritoneumis the official journal of theInternational Society for the Study of Pleura and Peritoneum(ISSPP).Peritoneal and pleural infections and oncological diseases often result in life-threatening conditions. However, the pleura (serous membrane, which forms the lining of the pleural cavity) and the peritoneum (serous membrane, which forms the lining of the abdominal cavity) have been relatively poorly studied, as compared to other organs. In sharp contrast to the skin, which i s recognized as an organ and object of a medical specialty, pleura and peritoneum are only considered as membranes. This might be explained by the fact that these organs cannot be seen, neither by clinical examination nor by radiological methods.Pleura and Peritoneumwants to change this by creating a high-level exchange platform for basic scientists, clinical researche r s and physicians.Pleura and Peritoneumis published quarterly. All contributions submitted for publication inPleura and Peritoneumare subject to single-anonymized peer review by at least two experts in the field, selected and invited by the Editor-in-Chief.Pleura and Peritoneumpublishes only English-language articles.Pleura and Peritoneumis an open access journal. To sustain the publication of all fully peer-reviewed manuscripts, each article accepted for publication inPleura and Peritoneumis subject to anarticle processing charge(APC), paid by authors' affiliated institutions, funders, sponsors or institutions that have anagreement with us.
