مجلۀ «حکمت معاصر» با اعتبار علمی‌پژوهشی برای انعکاس و ارائۀ دستاورد مطالعات علمی و پژوهش‌های استادان و پژوهشگران معاصر در حوزۀ سنت حِکمی اسلامی (اعم از فلسفه، کلام و عرفان اسلامی) و موضوعات مرتبط با آن (اعم از مطالعات میان رشته‌ای و کاربردی) است. براین‌اساس رویکرد نشریه انتشار مقاله‌هایی در حوزۀ سنت حِکمی اسلامی با اولویت‌های زیر است:
