Aims & Scope
Place is a peer-reviewed academic journal edited by a team of art historians from the Faculty of Artistic Research and Curatorial Studies at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw . Place is a journal dedicated to the study of the art of Central, Southeastern, Baltic, and Eastern Europe in the 20th and 21st centuries. The title of the journal reflects our fundamental aim, namely the study of art in its specific context, encompassing material, economic, social, geographical, and other factors. „Place” publishes texts from the intersection of art history and sociology, history, visual culture, gender and trans studies, and other related disciplines. Accordingly, it is interdisciplinary in nature, with a particular focus on art history. The journal publishes articles by both established and emerging researchers. The scope of the journal is international. In addition to peer-reviewed articles, our journal publishes in-depth interviews, visual materials, and reviews of exhibitions and books. This allows our content to reach not only professionals in the field, but also a broader audience with an interest in arts and culture.
