Aims & Scope
The journal publishes papers in the field of museology, including its subdisciplines, as well as museum studies (both theoretical and applied), monumentology, and the preservation and protection of cultural heritage, with a focus on Central Europe. Priority is given to scholarly articles in areas such as museology, collecting, museum history, museum presentation, museum communication, museum pedagogy, and other topics related to museums as institutions (e.g., museum management, marketing). In our view, the term "cultural heritage" should not be used as a broad synonym for all aspects related to cultural heritage. The primary focus of our journal is museology and the study of museology; conservation and monumentology are considered secondary concerns. Articles should not be limited to regional or local issues, nor should they consist solely of case studies. Contributions should address internationally relevant topics, involve international research and cooperation, and be grounded in sound theoretical frameworks. The journal aims to offer a relevant forum to both international academics and museum professionals, with an emphasis on the study of museum collections, evaluation of curating and other collecting practices of museums, as well as focusing on current issues and trends in the development of memory institutions.
