Aims & Scope
Pathogens and Immunity is a free, open access journal that was developed to serve researchers by streamlining the submission and publication process. To our knowledge there is no other scientific research journal like Pathogens and Immunity . We charge no fees to authors. Manuscripts can be submitted in any standard journal format online in less than 5 minutes, requiring conversion to our format only if the work is accepted for publication. Reviewers of submissions receive a modest honorarium for timely reviews. The median time from submission to first editorial decision is 14 days. Our processes provide authors with personalized attention, from rigorous peer review to tailored editorial support. These features of Pathogens and Immunity are all intended to improve the publication experience for investigators. Pathogens and Immunity comprises original research, invited reviews, and solicited commentaries focused on infectious agents and/or host defenses, as well as interviews with prominent researchers. Submitted work should have relevance to human health and disease whether focused on human subjects or experimental animals. Editors are especially interested in work that offers new mechanistic insights, provides new conceptual perspectives, or asks new questions. Pathogens and Immunity publishes the following communications: Review Articles and Commentaries. These are invited reviews of an interesting topic in immunology and/or infectious diseases. All review articles undergo peer review. Unsolicited reviews and commentaries are not considered for publication. Editorial Board members may recommend reviews and commentaries for consideration. Research Articles. These will comprise the bulk of Pathogens and Immunity’s contents. Research articles are typically 3,000 to 6,000 words in length and typically comprise no more than 8 figures or tables. Letters. Pathogens and Immunity will consider publishing letters from researchers that address issues raised in reviews or scientific communications published in Pathogens and Immunity. Poems. Pathogens and Immunity will consider publishing poems written by scientists or physicians or poems addressing scientific or medical issues.
