Aims & Scope

Data Science: Journal of Computing and Applied Informatics (JoCAI) is a peer-reviewed, open-access journal published biannually (January and July) by TALENTA Publisher, Universitas Sumatera Utara. The journal provides a platform for high-quality and original research in the fields of Computing, Applied Informatics, and Data Science, especially those that address real-world problems and interdisciplinary applications in both global and local contexts. JoCAI aims to bridge theoretical foundations and practical implementations in data-driven systems. It encourages submissions that explore innovative solutions to current challenges in digital transformation, smart technologies, and intelligent systems across diverse domains. Areas of particular interest include, but are not limited to: Core Data Science: Analytics, Data Mining, Data Warehousing, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, Information Theory Applied Informatics: Software Engineering, Internet of Things (IoT), Wireless and Mobile Computing, Information Security, Cryptography, Multimedia & Image Processing Interdisciplinary Applications: E-Government, E-Commerce, E-Health, Socio-Informatics, Computational Linguistics, Bioinformatics The journal also welcomes contributions that examine the ethical, social, and policy implications of data technologies, especially in the context of developing countries and emerging economies. Each submission is expected to demonstrate methodological rigor, clear academic contribution, and alignment with the journal's aims and scope.

A twelfth criterion — whether APC fees are clearly disclosed — is not scored here; it is left out of the total rather than counted as a failure. Publication charges appear in the metrics card above.
