Aims & Scope

The BrJP scientific journal publishes original research on the nature, education, ethics, mechanisms, assessment and treatment of pain and provides a multidisciplinary forum for the dissemination of basic and applied pain research. BrJP follows the Editorial Policy Statements of the Council of Science Editors (CSE). All article submissions are reviewed for integrity and originality by the Editor-in-Chief. The analysis of relevance is defined with the Associate Editor of the main topic. After this stage, the article is sent for peer review. When an Editor is on the list of authors or has any other competing interest regarding a specific manuscript, another member of the Editorial Board will be assigned to oversee the peer review. When an Editor is on the list of authors or has any other competing interest in relation to a specific manuscript, another member of the Editorial Board will be assigned to oversee the peer review. Editors will consider the peer-reviewed reports when making a decision, but will not be bound by the opinions or recommendations contained therein. A concern raised by a single reviewer or by the Editor himself may result in the manuscript being rejected. Authors receive peer review reports with the editorial decision on their manuscript. The journal does not charge authors for submitting articles. All articles are available in open access. The main objective of the BrJP journal is to publish the results of original research into the treatment of pain and the understanding of acute pain, chronic pain, pain education, bioethics, pain in humans and pain in animals. With a multidisciplinary emphasis, BrJP publishes research results from various areas of health and areas related to the study and treatment of pain.
