Czasopismo jest rocznikiem adresowanym do badaczy zajmujących się szeroko rozumianymi naukami o wychowaniu, a także do nauczycieli, pedagogów, psychologów i innych osób zawodowo związanych z placówkami oświatowymi. Zadaniem pisma jest prezentacja najnowszych wyników badań w dziedzinie kształcenia i wychowania oraz dostarczenie historycznej refleksji nad przemianami zachodzącymi we współczesnej edukacji w Polsce i na świecie. Obok oryginalnych artykułów naukowych periodyk zamieszcza także inne formy wypowiedzi naukowej, takie jak: polemika, recenzja oraz sprawozdanie z konferencji.
