Aims & Scope

Sociología del Deporte (SD) aims to create a space for reflection and debate on the phenomenon of sport from the perspective of social sciences. It seeks to connect the main theories and currents of sociology with the intellectual debate of our time regarding the phenomenon of sport, from a position of scientific rigor. It starts from the central idea that sport is an area of social expression, not an isolated space. It promotes the study of the phenomenon of sport as an expression of social reality and encourages the analysis of social facts and changes through sport. Therefore, the journal is open to all researchers in the social sciences, regardless of their degree of specialization. It also incorporates theories from related disciplines such as anthropology, history, social psychology, sports sciences, and political and moral philosophy. The journal has an international scope, aiming to integrate existing debates on the phenomenon of sport in Spain, Europe, Latin America, and the rest of the world.
