The Journal of LGBTQ Issues in Counseling focuses on the mental health and well-being of LGBTQIQA+ individuals and related groups. It publishes research on counseling, counselor education, mental health, and social justice as they relate to the lived experiences of sexual, affectional, intersex, and gender-expansive diverse people. The journal highlights affirming care best practices and scholarship that centers the experiences of these communities, addressing issues such as minority stressors, stigma, discrimination, and barriers to care.
